Blue/Gray Reunion
This festival is celebrated each year on the first weekend of June, commemorating the first land battle of the civil war. The festival features historical reenactments, tours, displays, entertainment, and other activities.

WV Timber and Wood Products Show
This event is held the second weekend in June at the Barbour County Fairgrounds: demonstrations, competitions, exhibits and entertainment.

July 4th Celebration
The Barbour County Fairgrounds in the setting for the annual July 4th celebration, which features entertainment and fireworks.

Reenactment of the Battle of Laurel Hill
This annual event is held the third weekend in July at the Laurel Hill Battle Site in Belington. This weekend of history includes two reenactments of the battle of Laurel Hill, which was the longest land battle during the Civil War. Entertainment, tours displays and living history.

County Fair
The Barbour County Fair is held at the County fairgrounds each year beginning the last week of August. The fair features rides and attractions, commercial and 4-H exhibits, competitions, a queens’ pageant, and entertainment by well-known personalities.

US 250 connects Barbour County with Staunton, VA, and Martins Ferry, OH. It intersects at Norton in Southern Barbour County with Corridor H (Rt. 33), a 4-lane highway that will link I-79 and I-81 when completed. US 119 connects Barbour County with Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

Barbour County’s public schools are among the newest, safest facilities in the state. All have been built since 1979 with the Philip Barbour High School newly constructed in 2003. 2900 students are enrolled in grades K-12. Extra-curricular activities are available for all students and include football, track, wrestling, volleyball, band chorus, science fairs, art shows, and spelling bees.
